Melbourne’s north is experiencing unprecedented population growth, but transport infrastructure over the years hasn’t kept up.
We urgently need investment in public transport, connectivity and active transport across our region to ensure that our residents can access health services, jobs, education and opportunities – now and into the future.
We want real change, and we need your help.

As the Northern Councils Alliance, we represent one million people across the municipalities of Banyule, Darebin, Hume, Merri-bek, Mitchell Shire, Nillumbik Shire and Whittlesea.

Inadequate connectivity, congestion and pollution are everyday realities for residents and businesses in Melbourne’s north.

Our public transport system is inefficient and irregular.

We experience severe traffic congestion, long trips to hospitals, challenges in accessing jobs and education, and increasing social isolation.

Sustainable transport options are also key to our future planning.

These problems are getting worse, because we are one of the fastest-growing regions in Australia.
